Welcome to the Annual Blessed Sacrament Knights of Columbus Cheerleading Competition,  held in conjunction with the Blessed Sacrament 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament, January 16 – 18, 2009.

The judging will take place during your team’s First game on Friday evening according to the following schedule.

5:00 PM – St. Vincent and St. Mark
6:15 PM – BSS Morton

7:30 PM – Holy Family and St. Thomas
8:45 PM – St. Philomena and St. Joseph

The squads will be judged on their cheering ability throughout the entire game. Each squad will also perform two floor cheers and one dance/pom routine.

The scoring will be based on a 75 point system: 25 possible points on sideline cheering, 25 possible points for floor cheers and 25 possible points for the dance / pom routine.  The judges will select first, second and third place squads overall.   The judges will also select outstanding squads for Leadership, Cheering Skill, Dance Routine, Creativity and Spirit.

The HOME team will have the floor to do their first floor cheer between the first and second quarter. They will perform their final floor cheer and dance routine at the BEGINNING of half time.

The VISITING team will follow the HOME team at half time with their first floor cheer and dance routine. They will have the floor to do their second floor cheer between the third and fourth quarter.

Trophies will be awarded on Sunday, January 18th at halftime of the championship game.

We ask that each squad’s half-time routine (floor cheer and dance/pom routine) have a combined time limit of no more than 2 ½ minutes.  (Deduction will not be made if routine is less than 2 ½ minutes).  The dance and floor cheer can be combined or separate.

To ensure safety, we ask that all stunts and/or pyramids are limited to two persons high, meaning the top person receives primary support from a base(s) who is in direct weight-bearing contact with the performing surface.  No basket tosses or cradles can be done and deductions will be taken if performed.

 Good Luck!
